Changes in male sex
roles
If we look around in the last 30-40 years , we see
significant changes in male and female sex roles. In 1950 and
60s the roles of both sexes were pretty much fixed and stagnant
but now we can see dramatic changes. The present society has
almost challenged the roles of men and forced them to
reevaluate "old" or "traditional" notions of manhood and
masculinity. Now, this led to confusions among men.
Why would you be a "Macho man" ?
Traditional stereotypes of what it means to be a man
(e.g., John Wayne, Rambo) emphasized the importance of males
being "sturdy oaks" ? They needed to be strong, independent,
inflexible, emotionless, and often, violent. The roles were
clear: work hard, provide for your family, be the "boss", don't
get emotionally close to anyone, etc. Not showing any
vulnerability was central to this role. This position suited to
most men and they were able to see complete picture of manhood.
Their essence of "manhood" and "the complete man" was highly
emphasized upon. It is still so and the men considr their
penis to be an identification of menhood and that is why we
have desire of
penis enlargement or
male enhancement.
But as times changed, we see newer definintions of
what it takes to be a man. Men tend to be less rigid
and clear and less strict in the defining manhood.
Males are now often encouraged to share childcare duties and
financial responsibility for their families. They have to show
emotions and react to sensitive (rather feminine) issues. They
have to be open emotionally. New role models of masculinity
stress upon strength and vulnerability. It's a dilemma for the
"real man" inside most of us.
So, how does that affect "the men"
?
The male sexuality theories revolve around how men are
losing power and stamina. The reason for the vulnerablity of
the "manhood" and manly attributes (whether physical, mental or
spiritual) are supposed to be the very outcome of the changed
perceptions of mankind. Had men not been anxious in present
times, they won't have seen problems like "premature
ejaculation". Most experts agree that one of the primary
reasons for male problems like "premature ejaculation" , sexual
dysfunction and impotence are psychological based. In other
words , mental inferiority leads to physical inferiority
and decline in manhood and manly
attributes.
Why men need to concentrate on their
stamina?
When we name stamina, we think of a power that drives
us physically. The real male stamina is something comes
from mental toughness and enhances the physical world and
reality of a man. Crises in
relationships, whatever the cause be, are supposed
to be faults of men. It was so in the past and something
in the society makes it a fact to be followed in the future as
well. To live a satisfactorily successful life in today's fast
paced world men need to change themselves. The vulnerability
has to be gone. Once it is done and sexual and spiritual
stamina revived, men will see success in all facets of life.
It's high time that men shouldn't afford to be vulnerable and
victims of societal norms that blame men for not
performing up to the mark.
